This morning, May 5th, I have learned from Minsiter Bruton and Minister Humphreys that Longford and Westmeath are to benefit from significant sums of money as detailed below.


I continue to work hard to ensure that Longford and Westmeath receive their fair share of funding and I am very happy with this morning’s funding, which highlights Fine Gael’s commitment to our constituency.


Under the Heritage Scheme, the money awarded will allow for the conservation and repair of protected structures across Longford and Westmeath. These buildings and structures are so important to our heritage and identity as a county, and maintaining and repairing them is a crucial part of the regeneration of our communities.

In Longford, €79,500 was awarded in the following manner:

Gandon Gate, Carriglass Demesne, €34,250.00

Kilglass House, Glebe, Legan, Co Longford, €12, 250.

Farm buildings 1&2, Loughan House, Loughan, Kenagh, Co. Longford 4,500

Nally’s Yard, Main Street, Ballymahon, market building €4,250

Rathmore House, Rathmore, Aughnacliffe, Co. Longford €4,000

Old Rectory, Granard Road, Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford €3,500

St Brendan’s RC Church, Clondra, Co. Longford, €4,250

St John’s Church of Ireland, Lanesborough, Co. Longford, €4,000

St. Munis’s Church of Ireland, Forgney, Ballymahon, Co. Longford, €4,250

St Patrick’s Church of Ireland, Churchquarter, Granard, Co. Longford €4,250

Westmeath received over €112,000 in funding for the below projects:

Sluice House Royal Canal Supply Line Lough Owel Mullingar, €10,000

Craddenstown House Raharney, €7,310,

St Mary’s Parish Church Collinstown, €9,300

St Michael’s Church of Ireland Church, Castlepollard,  €9,000

The Hevey Institute, €9,000

St Mary’s Parish Church Collinstown, €6,500

Ardnurcher Church, Horseleap, €23,000.00

Tullynally Castle, Castlepollard,  €6,000.00

Moate Gaol, Main Street, Moate, €23,000.00



The Summer Works Scheme is a significant round of funding allocated to schools to carry out mechanical, roofing and plumbing tasks over the summer. Over €47 million has been allocated this year, and I am glad to confirm that a large volume of schools in this constituency have been awwarded significant funding which allows them to go to tender for the works.
